Civil disobedience

The author of Civil Disobedience believed that it was second hand nature to follow what we believe in and act on what we thought was right. I agree with how the author thinks, because everyone needs to have some self confidence in order to be successful in life. If people didn't have self confidence in themselves, they would always have to rely on others to help them out in life, which is quite bothersome.
I also disagree with how the author thinks, because we all know that the world is not a place full of perfect people. As a matter of fact, there are some really corrupt people living on earth right now. This is where i disagree with how the author thinks. If EVERYONE were to do what they thought was right, there would be more wrong things happening than good things. Not everyone thinks about the welfare of others. I am sure there are some very corrupt people that think they can do whatever they please, even if it was against the law.
Overall, there are good and bad parts with the main idea of Civil Obedience and i truly do think that people should persevere in what they believe because that is what life is about.

I Hear America Singing

I think this story truly shows what being an American is like. It shows that America is full of varieties and opportunities. In the story, there were Masons, shoemaker, carpenters, woodcutters, boatmen, and many more. All of them were also singing while doing their job. This story also shows that you can do whatever you want, as long as you set your mind to it, since there are so many different things you can be. The singing also represents that everyone is content with their job. It shows that every American has the opportunity to do the job they actually enjoy doing. I think this story really described what being an American is. There are many different varieties in America ( races, religion, jobs, languages, etc.) There are also many opportunities in America, as long as you work hard toward your goals.
