The House of Seven Gables

I think the first 7 chapters of the book "The House of Seven Gables" is very interesting. Starting with the Pyncheon family curse, which starts with Colonol Pyncheon accusing Matthew Maule of witchcraft & he curses the Pyncheon family that God will give them blood to drink. Which I think means they will die a bloody death. I was also interested by how distant the family members of the Pyncheon family seem to be. It seems as if they're not even a family. For example, Hepzibah wouldn't even allow judge Pyncheon to even enter her house. Which shows that their relationship isn't very close. The only person from the Pyncheon family that Hepzibah mentions in a good way is Clifford, her brother who was sent to jail. There were also many metaphors that relate to the story, mentioned during the first 7 chapters. One of them were of the chicken and they Pyncheon family. It describes how the Pyncheon, like the chickens were at one time a grand breed, but grew weak over time. As the story goes on, it introduces new characters, phoebe & Clifford were 2 of them. I'm interested in finding out new things as i read the upcoming chapters.
